Summer is here! If you're looking for a new swimsuit, there are a few things you should keep in mind in order to save, not splurge. In this clip, our experts offer tips on how to shop for a new suit, and how to keep it in mint condition for seasons to come.

Shopping for a Swimsuit
When in comes to swimwear, there are dozens of different options to choose from, many of which can cost you a pretty penny. So, how can you get the most for your money? Well, the average cost for a one-style suit is $40, but there's a way to get more bang for your buck. Consider a convertible swimsuit instead. Many offer two, sometimes three style options, giving you multiple suits for the price of one. This can come in handy when trying to pack light for a vacation.

Swimsuit Care
swimsuitsNow that you have your perfect suit, proper care is key to making it last. First rule of thumb: Never put your swimsuit in the washer or dryer. Most suits are made of materials that can be broken down or damaged when machine-washed. Instead, after each use, soak your suit in tap water for 30 minutes. Then, hand wash the garment with a gentle soap or detergent and then hang to dry.

Using these easy tips, you'll look great and have a little extra money in the bank while you hit the beach.

I found my newest swimsuit at Four Corners.com. They have a great selection for all sizes & shapes. I always get the ones with the skirt. I paid $20.00 for mine a couple months ago. good luck.

Men's swimsuits are horrible. They hang low and go down to the knees. I have 'shorts' that ride just below my waist and are cut short at the top of my thighs, not down below my knees. I am not ashamed to show my thighs. Most guys wear 'short slacks' instead of swim shorts all in the name of style and looking cool!.

Is there REALLY somebody out there that actually puts their swimsuit in the DRYER??? With all the rubber and spandex, there'd be nothing left but a ball of goo.

"The average swimsuit costs about $40" Where in world do you find a swimsuit for so cheap? The average swimsuit I see is ussually around $150. Ones that actually stay on when moving are around $200

Don't know where you go shopping, but the suits I get at Target, Kmart and Walmart do just fine for me and get for about $20-$25 when they are on sale. For your $200 I can get 8 to 10 swim suits and I can rotate through them for about a year.
