Apple Store Employees to Get $4 Per Hour Raise

Apple's (AAPL) retail stores are giving employees raises today, according to a source.

We're told that every Apple retail employee will get at least a $4-per-hour raise. Some people are getting more, says our source.
It will go into effect on their July 20 checks.

This is based on an internal review process called NetPromoter that lets Apple employees critique the company.

It seems that enough Apple employees thought they were underpaid that the company decided to spread some money around.

Here in New York, the starting salary for an Apple specialist is about $13 or $14 an hour. After this, specialists will see a nice bump to $17 or $18 an hour.

Whether you are in favor of strong unions or not and this might not be the place for this comment, but I must remind all Americans if unions would return to what they offered back in the '50 and '60's in the technical fields they wouldnt need to worry if they were in a Right-to-Work state or not. they need to return to a full training program that turns out skilled new workers. Companies then could work with their unions by taking these new workers and putting them on company based finish training as 2/3rders for a number of months then on to full status when they qualified. this would make union workers in demand by companies and should help both management and labor become more interested in each others needs and solutions. Probably a pipe dream too many union payroll thugs would let out. No need for strong arm tatics.

They need to put up more nets around the fox conn building before they tell the chinese workers that make apple junk.

Too bad Apple doesn't make the IPad in the USA?? Can you imagine what it would cost if they were made here??
Workers paid to produce the IPad here would be out of this world. Probley couldn't afford one then.

I am happy for Apple employee's but trust me this is a one of a kind situation...most employers are NOT going to follow in these footsteps...sad but true.

Well, I am very happy for the Apple employees...my experiences at the local store are ALWAYS 1000% positive! Yes, we all would like to see some of the outsourced jobs come back to the US, but why does Apple have to be the company to do it? Threy'd bring jobs back here, get stuck "negotiating" with unions, be told changes need to take forever and have their secrets exposed. I don't blame them for not doing it!

LBrandforgecoke ifMacs were made in the USA you would be paying 3 or 4 times the price of a Mac. So use your foreign version of a windows system and enjoy.

Well good for Apple US employees. That $4.00 raise is 400 % more than the Chinese workers make in one hour producing I-Pads. Too bad Apple does not make I-Pads in the US and create the 700,000 jobs they created in China.

Providing healthcare to Americans workers to build their electronics would be a non starter for Apple. Then comes the workman's comp and disability. I have a small business and wanted to hire a couple employees and quickly decided to make due without, their wages were the smallest part of the hire. I'm sure my decision is not unique.
