Fresh flowers make beautiful additions to any room, but bouquets can add up. Not to worry, though -- there are ways to use blooms to brighten up your home without breaking the bank.

Carly Cylinder of FlourLA.com says flowers don't have to be a luxury. One idea is to buy inexpensive pre-made bouquets from your local supermarket or flower shop and then deconstruct them. Group flowers of the same variety together and then rearrange them using color blocking. This modern arrangement will give your cheap blooms an expensive look.

Another way to save money is by buying one kind of flower and then placing mini bunches in recycled vases. Wine bottles and tin cans are great options, but vintage or used vases can offer a unique look, too.

To get the most out of the flowers you purchase, choose bunches with buds that haven't opened yet. They will open throughout the week, and stretch out the longevity of the arrangement.

Fresh flowersAccording to Reader's Digest, many household items can be added to your vase water to make your flowers last longer. Suggestions include aspirin, bleach, soda, vodka and vinegar in various combinations and amounts. The magazine even suggests misting a little bit of hairspray to your flowers, or adding coins and a cube of sugar to your vase to extend the life of your bouquet.

Fresh flowers can look luxurious without costing you a fortune. Keep these tips in mind the next time you go shopping.

I don’t even think those were daisies I’m pretty sure they were yellow mums. Maybe she should learn what the names of the flowers are before she considers herself a professional. Looks like bank of America saved some money by not hiring a real florist to do that video

Her arrangements were not professional at all!

Yo, Adrienne,

Wow, I didn't read or hear anything about clipping the stems - especially under water at an angle. Maybe cuz it's so obvious? I love purchasing several colors and/or varieties of flowers at the produce section of my supermarket and mix/match using one vase or several.

i have worked with flowers for years and what she did just did not reflect a professional floral design. shoving everything down in a vase isnt designing. it can look good when done right, but not in this how to video. should have been called a how NOT to video.

I'm a licensed florist (Yes, in Louisiana we have to get tested by the state on our floral ability and pass to get licensed) and the only thing I agree with in this video is be creative and use things around the house for vases. The rest...well....ha! LOL

Support your local florist. No great bargains at the grocery store. Florist are happy to share "secrets" and many offer classes. You will learn far more just walking into the local floral shop and looking around than from this ridiculous video. What florists tells people to buy flowers at a grocery store. And stop with the cheap flower comments. Buy what's in season and take advantage of florists' specials, especially at the end of the week.

Yo, Adrienne,

I would love to support my local florists, but honestly I can't afford to. Only when friends have a loss and live in another state have I utilized online florists to send a flowering plant that would last (and eat sparingly the rest of the month). But I have also warned my friends when I leave this earthly world, don't send flowers to my funeral or I'll haunt you! LOL. I want flowers while I'm alive and can smell and enjoy them, even if its ME buying them for MYSELF from the supermarket!!!! I love love love flowers. ;)

I watched this thinking I was going to discover something amazing....YAWN. The arrangement looked better before she took it apart. Go to a farmers market and get some sunflowers. They are cheap and brighten up the room.
