VCA Antech (NAS: WOOF) filed its 10-K on Feb. 29. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), VCA Antech met expectations on revenues and whiffed on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue expanded and GAAP earnings per share shrank to a loss.
Margins dropped across the board.
VCA Antech logged revenue of $369.0 million. The 11 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ wanted to see sales of $370.3 million on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 9.1% higher than the prior-year quarter's $338.1 million.

Non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.21. The 11 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $0.25 per share on the same basis. GAAP EPS were -$0.04 for Q4 against $0.25 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 26.3%, 70 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 9.9%, 200 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -0.9%, 730 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $403.8 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.32.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $1.71 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.44.
The stock has a five-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 232 members out of 243 rating the stock outperform, and 11 members rating it underperform.
