Our kids have to pay for college, while the illegal immigrates get a free ride. Hmmmm? Something is not right here at all. When are the politicians going to start worrying and helping our American born children rather than the illegals. No wonder millions of illegals are coming into America everything is free for them while in the meantime we have to pay for everything. This insanity has got to stop! NO more freebies for illegals!

Oh dearest "snowtiger," you should really get a concept of how actual financial aid works prior to making claims on here. I am not a foreigner, other than my ancestors coming over here from England and forcing Native Americans out of their homeland, but I do know financial aid. Illegal immigrants are not eligible to receive federal money. Look it up. They are not even allowed to receive scholarships that are made up of even part federal money. Further, many states require illegal immigrants, on top of not receiving financial aid, to pay out of state tuition and some have even barred entrance to the university. PLEASE PLEASE look up what you are talking about PRIOR to posting. It makes you look, well, ignorant.

The worst shady tactic school perpetrate on our kids is the use of an ineffective, greedy unionized work force

Im tired of paying for these illegal kids to go to school for free, they clog up the high schools and grade schools yet they all have lump sums of cash but get free books, lunches, sports and fieldtrips and school supplies.J ust another way for our government to give the unreachable american dream to another foreigner !!!! WTH

My cousin goes to OU, while my uncle, aunt and the younger cousin live in Virginia. The costs for that I am sure is outrageous. He wants to be a meteorologist, specalizing in severe weather, which is why he is at OU. My youngest cousin onmy mom's side of the family, is going to college in two years, and my uncle will be paying will be paying for both of my cousins in college at once.

While I don't think college tuition should be free, but students should not graduate with thousands of dollars in debt either. One thing if students work for their own pleasure to have money they can spend on themselves, but having to work two or three jobs towards your college degree is utterly ridiculous. There are people out there that they will have a decent life ahead of them only to pay back student loans until their late 30s/40s sometimes even until retirement. College tuition should not be so expensive that the students and their parents fear that they will be bankrupt or paying off debt for eternity.

This is such a hard question to answer and its different for everybody. Personally I think that you need a planner to help you make a decision like this. I really appreciated this article: http://commonfinancialadvice.com/2010/11/saving-for-college-why-you-need-to-plan-beyond-financial-aid/

The 99%ers think college should be free to all. As soon as the professors, college administators, janitors and teaching assistances work for free, college costs will decrease dramatically.

When the colleges will turn off the heat, AC, lights and costs will decrease even more.

The best way to avoid big debt is to attend the nearest public college or university and live at home. If you want a "name" degree, transfer in your senior year to the big name school.
