  • Mizuno USA Inc. recalled 131,000 Mizuno Supreme Series and Ballpark Pro baseball and softball gloves because they contain a variety of molds that could cause respiratory and other infections, said the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. So far, no one has reported getting sick from using the gloves. The agency lists the model numbers of the recalled gloves. The gloves were sold at Walmart and Target stores nationwide from April 2010 through May 2011 for between $24 and $60 each. Consumer should call Mizuno for a refund at (800) 451-7913 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST.
  • A Hawaiian company recalled 1,550 pounds of ready-to-eat 7-Eleven convenience meals because they may be contaminated with listeria, said the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The possible contamination was discovered through the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service testing. Warabeya USA Inc. recalled five types of meals, which were sold only at stores in Hawaii. The USDA lists the recalled meals, which all had a best-by date of "06/30/11 11:30 a.m." The agency said no one has yet reported getting sick from eating the meals.
  • About 117,000 glass votive candle holders sold nationwide at Dollar Tree and other dollar stores were recalled by importer Greenbrier International Inc. because the votives can shatter while in use, said the CPSC. Included in the recall are frosted or clear glass votives with French vanilla scented candles. The model number 976127 and a date code of 1010 are printed on the bottom of the votive. The company has received one report of a votive shattering, but no one was hurt. The votives were also sold at Dollar Bill$, Deal$ and Dollar Tree Deal$ stores. Consumers should return the votives to the store for a refund. Call Dollar Tree Stores Inc. at (800) 876-8077 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.
  • Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, which has been linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened people in five states, recalled certain packages of its alfalfa sprouts and spicy sprouts because they could be contaminated with salmonella. The U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention said 25 people were sickened as of Tuesday.
  • Carolina Pride Foods Inc. recalled more than nine tons of boneless, diced and fully cooked ham products because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
  • Mini Stars building sets sold in stores nationwide and online at toysrus.com, Amazon and CSN on walmart.com were recalled by Edushape Ltd. because they have plastic knobs that can break off, creating a choking hazard, said the CPSC. There have been two reports of knobs breaking off, but no one has been hurt. The recalled Mini Stars building sets come in red, green, yellow or blue and were sold in sets of 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 pieces. Consumers should take the sets away from children and call Edushape for a replacement or credit at (800) 404-4744 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST.
  • About 20,000 Task Force 5-ton electric log splitters sold at Lowe's stores nationwide were recalled because the hydraulic arm can slide under the machine's handle during use, creating an injury hazard, the CPSC said. Two men have be hurt using the log splitter, including one who had a fingertip cut off by the machine. The recalled log splitter has the model number 26083 and item number 241483. Both numbers are printed on the power switch label on the back of the log splitter. Consumers should stop using the log splitters and contact manufacturer Changzhou Globe Tool Group Co. Ltd. for a free set of warning labels. Call the company at (866) 456-8934 weekdays between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST or e-mail the company.
  • Chanel Inc. recalled 120 scarves and 34 dresses, skirts and blouses because the 100% silk clothes didn't meet the federal flammability standards, the CPSC said. The agency said nearly all the items were returned to Chanel in May 2010. The clothing was sold at Chanel Boutiques, Neiman Marcus and Maxfield stores for between $430 and $3,650 in March and April 2010. Consumers who still have any of the garments should call Chanel for a refund at (800) 550-0005 or e-mail the company.

    I always take advantage of free slurpee day... it's a great idea for the company to market themselves, make people want slurpees and get the word out about them. 7-Eleven is a great company, but like many nationwide businesses it can have some weak spots. I was surfing the internet and I found this site where people can vent about poor customer service or products they received... it can get really funny.
