In a statement released yesterday through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Kashi said there have been no consumer complaints about the recalled pizzas, which were sold in stores nationwide.
Kellogg's spokeswoman Kris Charles told WalletPop that Kashi -- a Kellogg's subsidiary -- learned of the possible plastic fragments when its supplier informed it of the issue. So far no one has been hurt."People who buy Kashi trust the quality and safety of our foods," Kashi General Manager David DeSouza said in a statement from Kashi. "We apologize for this situation and are working closely with our suppliers and retail customers to resolve it quickly."
The following Kashi frozen pizzas are included in the recall:
- Kashi Mediterranean Thin Crust Pizza packaged in a 12.7-ounce box with UPC number 1862732905 3 and a best buy date of either May10 12NU, May18 12NU or May19 12NU
- Kashi Roasted Vegetable Thin Crust Pizza packaged in a 12.2-ounce box with UPC number 1862737342 1 and a best buy date of either May09 12NU or May14 12NU
- Kashi Mushroom Trio and Spinach Thin Crust Pizza packaged in an 11.9-ounce box with UPC number 1862737344 5 and a best buy date of May17 12NU.
In March, Kashi also recalled certain ready-made chicken meals that has been packaged in the wrong boxes. Last year, Walmart recalled some pizzas because of plastic pieces in the food, too.
