Infantino LLC recalled the Troy the Activity Truck toy sold nationwide at retailers such as Babies R Us and Toys R Us after 28 reports of plastic beads coming off, including two cases of young children gagging on the pieces, said the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
About 40,500 trucks were sold in the United States and another 1,900 in Canada at toy stores and other retailers including Meijer, TJ Maxx and Marshalls from September 2009 through February 2011 for about $15 each.Although the CPSC didn't give further details about the incidents, Health Canada said 15 of the US cases reported children putting beads in their mouths. Health Canada received three reports of the toy breaking, but no one was hurt.
Included in the recall are trucks with the model numbers 153-210, 206-110 or 506-110C printed on the truck's underside. The truck is blue, red and yellow with plastic star, circle and heart beads on runners in its truck bed. The toy also has a face and "Infantino" printed on its front. When the Chinese-made toy is switched on, it plays music and its back wheels spin.
Consumers should take the recalled toy away from children and contact Infantino for a replacement. Call the company at (888) 808-3111 weekdays between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
Fisher-Price had to recall more than 100,000 sets of its Little People line last year because one of the characters could break, creating a choking hazard.
