In the latest round of safety recalls, General Motors (GM) is recalling about 10,000 Buick and Cadillac vehicles to fix defective climate control systems that may not adequately defrost windshields.

Vehicles affected include Buick LaCrosse sedans and Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles from the 2011 model years, according to a notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. The bulk of the vehicles -- about 9,000 of them -- are SRX models.

A software glitch may prevent drivers from adjusting the heating and ventilation system settings. Should the shutdown affect the defroster when needed to clear fog or ice, it could decrease the driver's visibility and possibly result in a crash, GM said.

GM isn't aware of any crashes or injuries related to the problem, which dealers will fix by reprogramming the software. Only about a third of the cars have been sold, the Detroit News reported.

GM discovered the issue last month as part of a production trial run to revise the software. Just one of 50 vehicles during the trial run had the glitch, the News said.

The recall is expected to begin on or before March 11, GM said. As is customary with safety recalls, the repairs will be performed by dealers free of charge.

Owners may call Buick at 866-608-8080 and Cadillac at 866-982-2339.

In December, GM recalled about 96,000 Cadillac CTS vehicles from the 2005 through 2007 model years to repair defective sensors that may prevent passenger-seat airbags from deploying in a crash.

Americans should support American companies and their American workers rather then bash them.

SCREW GM !!! YOU KNOW WHAT GM STANDS FOR? Gone Mexican. WONDER IF THEY'RE REGRETTING GOING TO MEXICO? PROBABLY NOT, FIXING THESE PROBLEMS IS LESS EXPENSIVE THAN PAYING UNION WORKERS $50-$75 AN HOUR & MORE COUNTING PAY & BENEFITS. YET, I HAVE TO ADMIT, SEEMS TO BE MORE RECALLS SINCE. BRING OUR JOBS BACK, BUST THE UNIONS, & WE'LL SHOW YOU HOW A CAR'S SUPPOSED TO BE MADE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. DAMN MEXICANS CAN'T DO NOTHING RIGHT....EXCEPT JUMP THE BORDER ILLEGALY !!!!!

How about all the trucks, silverado and sierras, that have rusting parts. Ours is a 2002 and needs the whole cab replaced because of rust. I've read on other websites that this is happening to new, 2010, ones too. Why hasn't there been a recall on that?? How about a class action suit??

That rotten Obama and Gaitner made the old GM go banckrupt and stole all GM shareholders monies and stole all bondholders monies, over 29 billion dollars worth.

Why would any red blooded American buy a crappy GM car from a crappy car run by Washington and the Unions.

It's gonna be the same for Obamacare. Let's pray the Republicans over turn this piece of garbage which American don't want.

Any American who buys a GM car is a fool. GM & Obama stole billions of GM stockholders monies and then stole $29 BILLION of bondholders money. These were mostly American retirees who bought these bonds for income, so they lost their investment and their interest as stream. Shame on GM and our present administration !

It's a company without ethics and run by their crooked unions. In addition they make crappy cars.

End of story !

Looks like another emergency session for Congress to investigate. Talk about overkill for a minor problem .. !

Then again, gives 'em something to do ...
