A lot of music fans this year asked for Taylor Swift (pictured) but got Susan Boyle, while some Inception fans probably got Blind Side-ed. Otherwise, people pretty much got what they wanted in 2010, according to an Amazon (AMZN) poll released on Dec. 30.Stieg Larsson's bestselling The Girl book series, Activision Blizzard's (ATVI) Call of Duty: Black Ops and Amazons own Kindle e-reader topped both the "most popular" and "most wished-for" lists at the world's largest online retailer. Apple's (AAPL) MacBook Pro laptop and Microsoft's (MSFT) 2010 Home & Student software package also topped their respective categories.
Activision said last week its most recent Call of Duty video-game title surpassed $1 billion in global sales since its Nov. 9 release, making it the fastest-selling video-game in history. The only other entertainment title to reach the $1 billion mark within the same time frame was the late-2009 Fox (NWS) film release of Avatar, Activision said.
Amazon said in October that sales through the first three quarters of 2009 jumped 42% from a year earlier to $21.3 billion, with fourth-quarter sales forecast at between $12 billion and $13.3 billion.
