Christmas is a wonderful, joyful excuse for getting together with family and friends. If you're hosting the family turkey feed this year or maybe a small cocktail party, you can find many of the things you'll need to entertain in style with help from the dollar store.
There is so much to do at this time of year, you simply have to prioritize. Why stress about the amount of baking you're doing, (or not doing), when you can get a 7oz. box of shortbread cookies or a 4.25oz. tin of Pirouline rolled wafers for just a buck each?Dollar Tree also has T.G.I Friday's snack foods, gourmet crackers and cheese spreads. Take a good look around your local dollar store to see what other food products, some of them name brand, that you can use to help you save time in the kitchen. For instance, mine has Uncle Ben's Stuff 'n Such for Turkey and French's gravy mixes.
A tree-shaped foil cake pan with lid is only a buck, and snack-size Duncan Hines cake and brownie mixes are just $1 each. The mixes make 12 cupcakes or 12 brownies, respectively. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm guessing that the cupcake mix would be just the right size for the tree-shaped cake pan.
I also found a sheet of candy decorations in Christmas shapes that would be perfect for decorating a cake or cupcakes in holiday style.
You can get 36 dinner napkins at Dollar Tree in Christmas colors of red, green or white. You can also get cocktail napkins, paper plates and paper cups. I've been using dollar store napkins for years. They are very serviceable and often have some very nice patterns, too.
When you're entertaining, an extra serving tray or two can't hurt. Dollar tree has some cute holiday serving trays for just a buck each. There are also nickel-plated trays in various sizes and they are always a good choice when you want to add a bit of class to your entertainment endeavors. And you can always find the extra glassware you may need, whether wine glasses, tumblers or glass mugs.
If you've got small children, a vinyl table cloth is always a good idea. The dollar store has these in pretty holiday patterns in either round or rectangular sizes.
