"They are making a film of the spill primarily for an internal audience as an archive of a momentous event in the company's history (not to mention those impacted by the tragedy and its aftermath)," Wine said in an e-mail.
One of the videos, called A Community Fights Back, is a 12-minute study of the tourism industry's recovery in Florida, Louisiana and Alabama. BP refers to the video as a "mini-documentary," and it includes references to BP's payments to the states and complaints about negative media coverage.
World Television produced about 190 of these videos, some of which are still available on BP.com. More than 10 million people viewed the videos, BP said.
