Call it Harry Potter and the Dodgy Download.

The first 36 minutes of the much-hyped movie "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" appeared online on Tuesday, days before the movie is released.

The Internet is a-buzz with theories as to the origins of the leak, with some people saying it may have been a publicity stunt from studio Warner Bros.

"It may be going a little bit too far to suggest that Warner Bros. leaked the film intentionally, but from a business perspective it might make sense," wrote Ernesto, editor-in-chief of Torrentfreak, a blog that focuses on file sharing. His comments were reported in CNET.

Warner Bros. seems unruffled by the leak, saying that it will contact the FBI "when appropriate."

The film is the first installment of the final chapter of the long-running movie franchise. It is expected to be among the biggest-grossing movies of the year.

Previously, movies including "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" have appeared online before their official release date.
