General Motors is recalling nearly 4,000 Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles from the 2010 model year to repair power steering lines that may get damaged and leak fluid, the automaker said Thursday. The problem has resulted in at least one fire after power steering fluid leaked onto hot engine parts, but there have been no crashes or injuries as a result of the defect, GM said in a statement.
Owners will be notified by mail. The inspection and any necessary repair will be performed for free, GM said.
The Detroit-based automaker notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the planned recall on Sept. 29, Reuters reported.
