Wal-Mart to Increase Workforce by 36% in Five Years

Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT) will increase its workforce by 36% in the next five years to take advantage of growing international demand.

The new hires will take the company's headcount to 3 million, from 2.2 million now, Susan Chambers, executive vice president for human resources, said at a conference in India.

New employees will be hired "mostly" outside the United States, Chambers said, according to Bloomberg News. "The opportunity for growth is not just in India but global."

Chambers did not give more details.

Wal-Mart is working to open 15 stores in India by the end of 2011 as part of a venture with Bharti Enterprises.

OH IF WALMART IS HIRING MORE PPL .THEN WHY DON'T THEY TAKE CARE OF THE PPL THEY ALREADY HAVE WORKING FOR THEM. IF A PARENT HAS A DISABLED CHILD OVER THE AGE 20 AND IS THE ONLY LEGAL GUARDIAN OF SAID CHILD AND HAS TO TAKE OFF TIME TO TAKE THAT CHILD TO THE DRS, OR HOSPITAL BECAUSE HE NEEDS 24 HOUR CARE AT ALL TIMES AND WALMART KNEW THIS WHEN THEY HIRED THIS MOTHER 4 YRS AGO BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN DECIDES THEY WILL FIRE THIS PERSON BECAUSE SHE HAS TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK TO TAKE THIS SAID CHILD TO A DR. OR HOSPITAL. AND SHE NEEDS HER JOB . THEN WHY IN THE HELL IS WALMART FIRING A GOOD PERSON JUST BECAUSE SHE HAS TO TAKE HER SON THAT WALMART KNEW ABOUT WHEN THEY HIRED HER IS IS THE ONLY SOUL PROVIDED FOR HER SELF AND SON. I DON'T QUITE UNDER STAND THIS. IF WALMART IS SO MUCH FOR HELPING FAMILYS THEN WHY CAN'T WALMART HELP ONE OF THEIR OWN ENPLAYEES . SOUNDS PRETTY SAD TO ME. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A WALMART CUSTOMER BUT I WILL NOW TAKE MY BUSINESS SOME PLACE ELSE. I DON'T FEEL THIS IS RIGHT TO TRY TO FIRE SOME ONE BECAUSE OF A CHILD OVER THE AGE OF 20 THAT IS DISABLED AND CAN NOT TAKE CARE OF HIS SELF AND ALL HE HAS IS HIS MOM THAT HAS TAKEN CARE OF HIM SINCE HE WAS 6 MONTHS OLD AND GAVE HER LIFE UP TO PROVIDE FOR HER CHILD . IF I WAS THIS SAID PARENT AND WALMART KNEW ALL ABOUT THIS WHEN THEY HIRED SAID PARENT 4 OR 5 YRS AGO. THEN WHY DON'T YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR EMPLYOEES . I THINK WALMART NEEDS TO BE PICTED BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY ARE ALL ABOUT FAMILY BUT CAN NOT TAKE CARE OF ONE OF THEIR OWN EMPLOYERS IN STEAD THEY WANT TO FIRE THEM WHAT A SHAME WALMART?

Actually NO! It's not as bad as the governments! It's a whole lot worse than the government's! THEY, along with the GOP are the major cause of our problems, NOT the government! Sure we have some rotten politicians in both parties all right. But it's the GOOBERS that have constantly said no to most everything, even when it would help us! And that socialism horses%&$! Doesn't anyone read their history enough to know that it's a GOP scam to pull that little number on the American people! Fear sells! Even if it's a total LIE! Corporate GREED crept in years ago and Bush and crew kicked it in high gear during his corrupt regime! The rich and elite are spewing lies and misinformation and they dam well should be TAXED BIG TIME to pay for the problems they've caused middle-class America!

When Sam Walton was a live he got things made from the U.S.A. and now that he passed on. Now every thing is made over seas. The people who work there try to set up other workers so they can get you fired. I know I'd used to work for Wal-Mart, it happen to me.(TRUE) Did know you can get fired from Wal-Mart that if you worked over time.

I'm not suprised with this news 98 % of all walmarts products are imported from china anyway.It makes good business sence to open stores elsewhere and have their products shipped diricly from china to the location. Until such time our goverment imposes a stiff import tax on all items comming into the us it's wide open to have all this china junk sold here. I'm not saying I have a issue with fair trade but in the US trade to anywhere it's far but fair. The only way to become independent once again is stop imports with heavy duty taxes and once again all those jobs will return to the United States.

This is why a store like Walmart is the perfect example to go union. This hire everyone part time only crap would end. The workers would be treated right. They would have the backing of millions of union people in America. Walmart would be forced to sell more American goods. I know lots of people do not like unions, Unions can be great. The corruptions in unions are from the very top. I am a Republican Union worker. No.....Not a government union job. I dislike the Demo's for many other reasons. Not for their BACKING UNIONS STAND. Yeah....It is hard being a Republican in the Union. I do not open my mouth to them about it, However....The rank and file workers have told me " The Demo's left me I did not leave them " See.....We union " Workers " are not stupid.

Before you get all teary eyed about Mr Sam, let's not forget he said Made in America and was caught lying right off the bat because it wasn't. Walmart only wants part time people. How many are on social services while working for them ? You aren't getting quality products at Walmart. If you live in Podunk and have no place to shop, yeah, it looks good.
