Fisher-Price recalling 7 million trikes after serious injuries to girls

Fisher-Price trike recallFisher-Price is recalling more than 7 million trikes sold over a 13-year-old period after a series of injuries to little girls who fell onto the pretend ignition key that sticks out from the toys, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada said.

At least 10 girls were hurt, six of them -- who were either 2 or 3 years old -- more seriously, suffering injuries including genital bleeding.
The massive recall affects a wide variety of styles of the popular trikes aimed at 2- to 5- year-olds. They were sold between 1997 and earlier this month for about $25.

All the trikes being recalled were made in Mexico and have pretend keys in the shape of a disc or a D. Trikes made after June 16, 2010 are not being recalled. They will have a manufacturer number that includes the production run that is higher than 1670Q2, which stands for the 167th day of 2010. The number is under the seat near the model number.
