Obama Not Considering Second Stimulus Package

The Obama administration is not considering a second stimulus package as it seeks ways to jump-start the flagging U.S. economy, a White House spokeswoman said Thursday.

Obama said earlier in the week that he is considering measures, including tax cuts for businesses and investments in infrastructure and clean energy, in a bid to lower the U.S. unemployment rate.

White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage said Thursday that these measures do not include more stimulus.

"The options under consideration build on measures the president has previously proposed, and we are not considering a second stimulus package," Brundage said, according to Reuters. "The president and his team are discussing several options, as they have been for months, and no final decisions have been made."

Obama is expected to outline his plans in the coming weeks. He is under strong pressure to boost job growth after the first stimulus package failed to keep unemployment below 9%.

The first stimulus was a great idea, wrong target. Since the Obama Administration has know idea where the target is, a second package is definitely not a good solution. Giving out money is an Art. Though Obama has years of experience he seems to lack the understanding of that Art, of applying money where it will do the most good.
