This week's freebies are all over the map -- literally. World Vision is giving away free world maps, plus there is free dog food and baby formula to be had. Snag a free Easy Glide pen and free sample of Enfamil while you're at it. Watch my video on creating a budget in 15 minutes (free advice), and don't forget to take advantage of the Body Shop's free student membership, which normally costs $10. Happy weekend!
Get a free sample of natural dog food through Freefly's. To get the freebie, share your name, address, e-mail, phone number, the type of dog you have, and choose which of the six dog food flavors you would like to receive. The company will not send the free sample unless you include your phone number, unfortunately. Samples will only be sent to individuals who are located within distributor areas, so before you sign up, click on the above link and look for a blue box on the right that says "find your local distributor." Pick your state and see if there is a distributor near you. If yes, proceed to fill out the free-sample form. Your sample will ship in a few days. If not, you can still fill out the form but you won't get a free sample. Caveats: while supplies last. Taking advantage of this offer supports WalletPop.
Every day through Sept. 9, 2010, BIC is giving away 1,000 Easy Glide pens starting at 12 noon EST. Set your alarm to get this freebie! The giveaway is not for the cheapo BIC pens you can swipe from the office. These are nice pens. If you need more free or very cheap office supplies and back to school 2010 supplies, I update this link weekly. This week the list includes notebooks and reams of paper for a penny, plus many more supplies for less than $1. This is the best time of year to buy office supplies. Caveats on the freebie: while supplies last.
Get a free sample of Emergen-C's new vitamin powder mix that contains calcium and vitamin D, a good combo for improving your bone health, plus a free sample of Emergen-C Immune. Share your name, address, e-mail, birth year and answer three questions about Emergen-C. The free fizzy drink has a mixed berry flavor and is offered through Walmart. I like taking Emergen-C in the winter to help me fight colds. Caveats: while supplies last. Your free sample will arrive by mail a few weeks after you submit the form. One sample per household. Samples are only available to consumers in the United States.
Get a free sample of Enfamil when you print a voucher, bring it into your doctor, and ask which type of Enfamil formula is best for your baby. The free sample is good for one of three types of Enfamil, including Gentlease, meant for babies with fussiness or gas; A.R., which claims to reduce spit-up after feeding, and ProSobee, a lactose-free formula. You do not need to share any personal information to print the voucher. If you have a co-pay to see the doctor, the value of this freebie will likely be wiped out. Unclear how big the sample size is. Caveats: subject to availability. Limit one sample of any Enfamil product per household. Taking advantage of this offer supports WalletPop.
World Vision is giving away 15,000 free world maps, a great learning tool for teachers, schools, and students. Request one and make it part of your free back to school 2010 supplies. These maps are available worldwide. Share your name, address, and e-mail to get your free map. Not too shabby. Caveats: one per household. Expect the map to arrive in a few weeks. Note that the free map site has been acting wonky and may be extremely slow.
Every week I round up the best back to school 2010 supplies, which are also fantastic if you have a home office. The best deals, including free and $.01 items, generally expire on Wednesday. I post the new deals each Monday, so check back at the beginning of the week.
Don't forget students can get a free Body Shop membership, which normally costs $10 per year, when they sign up with an .edu e-mail before Aug. 26, 2010. Look for a free membership voucher in your e-mail and bring it to any store with a valid student ID by Aug. 29, 2010.
As implausible as it may seem, it is possible -- and easy -- to create a budget in 15 minutes. That is, if you do it my way. Grab a piece of paper, a pencil or pen, and start your stopwatch. In a quarter of an hour you will know the exact size of your money pot. Spending within your means has never been so easy.
