Technology company Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) appointed executive search firm Spencer Stuart to handle all activities involved in the search for a new CEO.
The company will consider internal as well as external candidates, HP said in a statement. The board appointed John Hammergren as chair of the search committee. The committee also includes Marc Andreessen, Lawrence Babbio Jr, and Joel Hyatt.
"The Spencer Stuart team will be instrumental in helping us identify a CEO with the right leadership qualities to move HP into the next phase of growth," Hammergren said. "We look forward to conducting a swift, thorough and confidential search process, and accordingly we will have no further comment until we are ready to announce our new CEO."
Former CEO Mark Hurd resigned earlier this month following a sexual harassment allegation and charges he filed false expenses claims.
