The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota reports consumers have been receiving fraudulent confirmation e-mails claiming to originate from the online shoe retailer Zappos.
In a public statement on the incident, the BBB calls these e-mails "suspicious." Consumers are advised not to click on any links in the e-mail as it could be a phishing scam designed to unleash viruses into their computers.
Since these e-mails appear to be fake, Zappos customers should contact the company directly with any questions related to their order. If a consumer does click on a link, the BBB advises them to run a full virus scan and to completely delete the e-mail from their inbox.
Zappos has received an A+ rating from the BBB of Southern Nevada and has been an accredited business since 2005. All complaints related to company's practices have been resolved to customer satisfaction or have been administratively closed.
