Job Openings Drop for Second Straight Month

jobs unemploymentWASHINGTON - Company job openings fell for the second straight month in June, a sign that hiring isn't likely to pick up in the coming months.

The Labor Department says job openings at businesses fell to 2.54 million from 2.6 million in May. Overall openings were unchanged, as government openings ticked up.

June's total openings are 26 percent above the low point of 2.3 million in July 2009. But that's still far below pre-recession levels of about 4.4 million openings per month.

The report suggests that slow hiring is the biggest hurdle facing the nation's work force. Layoffs by private companies fell to just below 1.7 million, similar to the pace before the recession. Private sector layoffs rose to a peak of 2.5 million in January 2009.

Reagan's old budget advisor stated the GOP killed the country (and he is a conservative Republican). He says forget the tax cuts for the rich and the middle class, we need to pay down the debt. Finally, someone who makes sense, before this country goes completely bankrupt.

Barack is no fool! He knows exactely what he is doing: He got most of his ideas from radicals who do not have Americans best interest at heart! He could not continue to turn a deaf ear to the american people if his intentions were good. He is on a mission and hell bent for the CHANGE he promised! I've read, he who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword! I can see the daggers in his eyes! He is not-- never has been nor ever will be fit to hold the sacred office of the American People.

What we have here is like a Catch 22 situation... We need more jobs, but businesses won't hire until spending increases, and spending won't increase until there are more jobs... Since I think my classic Libertarian ideals would put our nation at a distinct competitive disadvantage in the global market place, because other countries have protectionist trade policies in place making real free enterprise unachievable, I now support increased government spending to directly create jobs and modification of our trade policies to reduce the competitive advantage that foreign goods and services have as a result of their countries trade policies and their export based economies that receive direct and indirect subsidies from their governments. If we modified our policies to level the playing field, businesses would locate facilities within the US borders - and employment would increase.

Obviously this is a vast right wing conspiracy to make the Democrats look bad. That stimulus package will take hold any day now. Just you wait.
