Boeing Co. (BA) is reinspecting its 787 Dreamliner jets after uncovering flaws in horizontal stabilizers made by an Italian vendor.

Boeing is checking on flight-test and production planes after the flaws were found in stabilizers made by Alenia Aeronautica, a unit of Italy's Finmeccanica SpA, Bloomberg News reported. The stabilizer is located on the tail of a plane and helps keep it steady in flight.

"Based on what we've seen so far, we believe the inspections and any issues we find can be readily addressed," Boeing spokeswoman Lori Gunter told Bloomberg News in an e-mail.

The Dreamliner's entry into service could be delayed until 2011, due in part to the stabilizer problems. The plane's entry has been delayed by over two years.

Jim Albaugh, president of the company's commercial plane business, said that in future it may do more of the work currently done by vendors.

So: What are the Lessons of the UNIONS? Pay that pays the Bills at Home !!!!!!
I now live in Utah, The pay is so bad People can not afford to rent an Apartment.
This is what you get without Unions, and let the Company pay what they want you to have. Many People here are working 2 Jobs and the Wife is working as well.
Unions is not what hurt this Country, Big Business did it and you need to learn to read and understand the news.
Quite clear you understand that Boeing sent Jobs over the Pond, When we had Problems on AIR Craft Parts, It took 100 Parts before the Problems were fixed.
You could not get on the Phone and get something done.

Boeing's best planes were made in the USA by American workers. Out sourcing to low wage countries will get you cheap parts but also cheap-built parts. Quality control is almost non-existant in many of these coutries. Make it HERE and build it HERE.

To anyone looking for a case study in how brilliant it is for an airline manufacturer to outsource every component to a different lowest-bid producer around the world as a way to "save money," take a good look. The Dreamliner could have been delivered three years ago if it had been produced in American factories -- not because Americans are just inherently better, but because everyone works off the same sheet of music. Even the French and Germans, who share a border and both use the metric system, had trouble lining up their components for the A380. Boeing's approach is a nightmare.

HOPEFULLY BOEING HAS KICKED OUT THE CLOWN WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDIOTIC CONCEPT OF FARMING OUT INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT MANUFACTURING TO OTHER COUNTRIES. I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE IN THE AERONAUTIC FIELD, AND UP UNTIL THIS FIASCO WITH THE DREAMLINER, THERE COULD NEVER BE ANY DOUBT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE CO. THAT GAVE US THE 707, 747,757, THE B-29, B-47,AND THE GRANDADDY OF THEM ALL THE MIGHTY B-52, JUST TO NAME A FEW. C'MON BOEING RESTORE YOUR RESPECT AND MANY AMERICAN JOBS, BRING IT BACK TO THE GOOD OLD U.S.A. IT WOULD ALSO HELP IF THE UNIONS WOULD LEARN THE LESSONS OF WHAT THE UNIONS DID TO THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY, AND BACK OFF SO THAT DESPERATE MEASURES OF THE COMPANY TO STAY PROFITABLE WOULDN'T NEED TO BE TAKEN.
