Senate Democrats Push $26 Billion Jobs Bill

Posted 8:03AM 08/04/10 Posted under: Economy, People
Senate Democrats will push a $26 billion measure to help states and local school boards in a bid to preserve jobs.

The bill aims to preserve the jobs of tens of thousands of public sector employees by extending programs from last year's stimulus bill, the Associated Press reported. Democrats hope to gain support from Maine Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in a vote today.

Snowe and Collins had been concerned that the bill would cut funds to Navy shipbuilding accounts. The Bath Iron Works is one of Maine's major employers. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) removed the cuts on Monday.

Let's keep buying votes--not with my money. I am tired of the Democratic lack of fiscal responsibility. Most states are struggling because of over bloated government workers and teachers--how many more studies do these clowns need to see. The naswer is let's spend more money and prolong the problem. I do hope we get some people in place that have some common sense and a desire to put America back in the World Leader position.

so the GOP is more fiscally responsible?.....the last GOP president increased our debt by more than 70%......added four trillion a year to our debt just to give tax cuts to the wealthy, with no way of paying for it.....now they are recommending more of the exact same.....which will add trillions to our debt to pay for the tax cuts........wow, how fiscally responsible of them....

Instead of adding new debt to the Nation why not tap into the unused TARP money that was suppose to be working for us with all those Shovel Ready projects Obama boosted about. Use what avaiable and put no more debt on the backs of my grandchildren and the unborn.
