As part of a marketing blitz for its new Doublicious chicken sandwich, KFC will offer up to 50,000 free to competitors employees on Tuesday.
The deal is the first 10 fast food workers who show up to a KFC wearing their uniform get a Doublicious. Oh, and they can apply for a KFC job as part of what the company calls "Sandwich Amnesty" if they lose their jobs over the meal.
The Doublicious is a chicken breast, bacon and Monterey Jack cheese with KFC's special sauce -- dubbed Colonel's Sauce -- in a sweet Hawaiian Bread bun. It also comes in a grilled version with lettuce and honey mustard barbecue sauce, but no bacon. A meal combo with fries and a drink will run $5 plus tax. Prices vary by location on the sandwich alone.
Doublicious fried version is reminiscent of another KFC menu item -- its bunless Double Down, minus one chicken filet and slapped on bread. Since its release in April, the Double Down has had less than stellar sales.
