Apple (AAPL) iPad sales have already reached about 1.2 million a month, according to the DigiTimes, a daily Taiwanese newspaper. The figure is based on Samsung's production of displays for the tablet, which will ship in July.

"DigiTimes Research analyst Kuo Ming-Chi said monthly shipments of the iPad have reached 1.2 million units, up from the 700,000 units per month when the product was first introduced to the market, and the monthly shipments may reach 2.5 million units by the end of 2010," the newspaper reported.

The price of the iPad ranges between $499 and $829. That means the contribution to Apple's calendar fourth quarter sales could be as much as $3 billion.

Apple's shares are trading near an all-time high of $273.
