Friday freebies: free books, free Taco Bell limeade, free BJ's membership, and more

Get into summer mode with this week's freebies, including a free refreshing limeade drink from Taco Bell, free ice cream, a free book for young readers, and free magazine subscriptions you can read at the beach. Stock up for summer BBQs and parties at BJ's warehouse club, which is offering a free 60-day membership. If you have $1, stop by Old Navy on Saturday to get a new pair of flip flops. Enjoy!

Be one of the first 500,000 to print out and redeem this Taco Bell coupon and you're in store for a free Limeade Sparkler drink. Make sure to bring the coupon with you to get the freebie. The giveaway ends on July 11, 2010 or when a half million of the coupons have been redeemed. Not everyone will redeem the coupon, so there will be a gray area when you can still print out a coupon but still get to the store the offer will have ended. Act quickly so you don't get burned!

Get a free ice cream sundae at participating Walmart stores tomorrow, Saturday May 22, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be new flavors from Breyers on hand, Blue Bunny ice cream and new natural frozen yogurt that you can top with Hershey's chocolate syrup, Reddi-wip, and fresh strawberries. The idea behind the event is that a lot of moms buy ice cream for Memorial Day, which is next weekend, so they can try new products for free tomorrow.

Borders has a summer reading program for kids 12 and younger that offers a free book for reading any 10 books of their choosing. No purchase necessary! To participate, have your kid read 10 books this summer and write the titles on this form. Sign the form and bring it into your local Borders by August 26, 2010 so your kid can pick one of ten free titles.

Did you know there are a lot of ways to take advantage of warehouse club prices without ponying up for membership? The East Coast chain BJ's has especially sweet perks for non-members, including a free 60-day BJ's membership that expires July 5, 2010. I spotted three other easy ways to save money at BJ's.

Get a free sample of toilet bowl scent-eliminator called The Drops, which claims to form a seal on top of the water in your commode before you do your business. That way, unpleasant odors do not make it out of the bowl. I have not tried this product but am curious if it lives up to the hype. To get a free sample of The Drops, write an old-fashioned letter. Send a self-addressed stamped envelope requesting either fresh lavender or citrus bubble scent to: Toilex LLC, Attention: Free Sample, PO Box 883, Chesterton, IN 46304.

ValueMags.com occasionally has freebie magazine subscriptions and I just discovered the landing page for all of them! The site currently has four free mag offers. The other offers listed on the page linked above have already expired, unfortunately. The current list of free magazines includes:

  • One free issue of Bridal Guide
  • Three free issues of Wood Magazine
  • A 30-day free trial to the electronic edition of USA Today
  • Twelve digital issues of Field & Stream magazine
  • Sixteen free trade magazines for professionals who qualify (you have to be in a related field). Titles include Modern Plastics Worldwide, Chemical Engineering, and CIO Digest, among others.

These free magazines will not last long so if you are interested sign up today. When you sign up there is no obligation to give ValueMags your credit card or agree to pay for a longer subscription. However, the site will likely use your contact information to pitch you additional titles.

Get a free sample of Enfamil baby formula. Print out a certificate and take it to your baby's doctor for the freebie. You can get one of three types of Enfamil with the certificate, including a hypoallergenic formula called Nutramigen with Enflora LGG, an formula that apparently reduces gas called Gentlease, or Enfamil A.R., which is supposed to reduce spit up. Ask your doctor which type, if any, is best for your baby.

Lastly, the Old Navy $1 flip flop sale is Saturday May 22. I know it's not a free deal, but it is pretty darn close. Time use the $4.27 left on my Old Navy gift card!
