Bargain hunters, here's another option for you to consider if you are looking for a bargain bite this summer.
Riding the trend of chains offering cheaper breakfast items, Bruegger's Bagels announced a "4 Under $4" campaign, featuring four breakfast sandwiches available all day. Among the items are a new "Western" featuring egg, bacon, roasted veggies and chipotle sauce. For the healthy ones there's a new egg white and sun-dried tomato sandwich.
"Consumers are asking for breakfast options at other meal times," said Jim Greco, Bruegger's CEO in a release. "We think our '4 under $4' sandwiches present a great value and a great taste any time of the day."
The company is also debuting its four-flavored iced coffee coolers, a combination of iced coffee with a splash of sweet cream over it, each going for $2.29.
In a recent survey, food service consultant Technomic found that nearly half of consumers would like to see full-service restaurants offer breakfast throughout the day. Combine that with a survey released by Alix's Partners that found that diners are eating out frequently, but spending less money on each meal, and you know why restaurants are expanding their breakfast menus to be available all day.
An anorexic breakfast market continues to bother the restaurant industry because of employment levels and shrunk disposable incomes. So, don't be surprised if these deals continue to pour in through the summer.
