She's guest hosted The View, Larry King Live and NBC's Today Show, but now Britain's Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, wants her own American show.
"I want it to be a show that is me on the streets," Ferguson reportedly told reporters yesterday while hosting afternoon tea to promote DVD sales of her Oscar-winning film "The Young Victoria."
"I want it me going round (in) middle America," she said, according to Reuters. "I want to go out and see what the needs are, and then the audience has to challenge me ... to go and fix the school in Boise or get another restaurant in Allentown."
Fergie says she loves America because we weren't nearly as nasty to her during her 1996 divorce and subsequent weight battles as the British tabloids. Fergie divorced Queen Elizabeth's son Prince Andrew and has two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
"I am the number one fan, I love Americans," Fergie told Reuters.
Oprah, the reigning queen of daytime television, is ending The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011. Speculation as to who will replace her has run from Ellen DeGeneres to Dr. Mehmet Oz, both of whom already have their own daytime shows, to CBS news anchor Katie Couric, whose contract ends in 2011. Others are talking about replacing the show, which is expensive to produce, with more local news.
