Mad Men's Don DraperIt may not be the best $74.95 you'll ever spend, but Mattel's "Mad Men" dolls sure have a lot of possibilities for fun.

That's the suggested retail price for one of four "Mad Men" dolls to be sold by Mattel in specialty stores and at amctv.com and barbiecollector.com, although I couldn't find them on those sites yet. Not that I'm anxious to buy dolls, but getting Don Draper and the "Mad Men" gang together with a Ken and Barbie doll could be endless fun.

Just imagine Don Draper trying to seduce Barbie while Ken and Joan Harris, the office manager at Sterling Cooper share a cigarette.

But that will never happen, at least as far as the dolls' props go. According to the New York Times, the "Mad Men" dolls will come with period accessories like hats, overcoats, pearls and padded undergarments, but no cigarettes, ashtrays, martini glasses or cocktail shakers.

For fans of the 1960's-set show filled with cheating spouses, let's hope this deal with Barbie isn't "Mad Men's" move toward jumping the shark. The show by AMC could be called overexposed, although a potential clothing line from the series sounds like a good idea.

Along with the office manager doll, adulterer Draper's doll will be joined by his wife, Betty; and his colleague Roger Sterling, who once had the office manager Harris as his mistress.

They're part of a premium-price collectors' series for adults called the Barbie Fashion Model Collection. Mattel says the "Mad Men" dolls will be the first licensed line for that collection. From 7,000 to 10,000 copies of each doll will be sold.

The first episode of "Mad Men" was set in March 1960, exactly a year after Barbie was introduced. Let's hope she doesn't pick up any housewife tips from Betty Draper, who is divorcing Don for another man.
