It was bound to happen. There is a house in Malibu that is now twittering about itself. It's bio says that it is: "One of the nicest estates to ever be offered for sale in Malibu." Well, why not? Houses have personalities, don't they?
The twittering house is listed for sale at $13,950,000 by Malibu Prudential agent Mike Gardner, one of the most Web and social media savvy real estate agents around.
Says Gardner: "Twitter is becoming similar to a search engine except that it will be 'live' results. Some people may just want to search Malibu to see what conversations are taking place about it (the house)."
Gardner's house posts pin-up-like photos of itself at sunset, discusses the turnout it had at an open house -- you get the idea. It recently linked to a Volkswagen commercial in which it shared the spotlight with Seal and Heidi Klum. Looks better than both of them, if you ask me.
Is the house twittering working? Well, I give it high marks for cleverness and Gardner is sure leaving those other Realtorsauruses in the dust with his use of social media and the web.
The 14,000-square-foot house has seven bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, situated on more than 20 acres. The Italian Villa style home has 180-degree unobstructed whitewater views and the master suite ranks pretty high on the extravagance scale with a spa-like bathroom and separate gym. The formal dining room has hand-painted ceilings and there a carved stone fireplace in the living room made from imported stones.
Given the general level of Twitter discourse, maybe this house will actually have something more worthwhile to say than what kind of coffee it is drinking at the moment.
