Eating breakfast before facing the day is important, numerous research has found, making the stories of hungry job interviewees a perfect example of why fueling up is important.
Golden Grahams cereal -- which I'd normally associate as a breakfast cereal for children, but is apparently popular with adults -- is giving away what it calls 75 Golden Grants, which are 12 boxes of its cereal every week for three months, to winners of its contest for the best description of a job hunt experience in 120 characters or less.
The contest started Feb. 3. Two of the best submissions each week will be turned into videos each week with the job hunt advice, such as not to lie or exaggerate on your resume:
Lying for 20 minutes in a job interview about mining gold is funny, as is running late to a job interview and peeing in the parking lot, as well as falling asleep in the lobby and missing the interview.
The point here, of course, is to have a healthy breakfast before going out to a job interview and not let your grumbling stomach do the talking. So while it doesn't have to be a bowl of Golden Grahams, or the tasty Golden Graham smores, some type of healthy breakfast is a good idea.
The company is promoting the contest on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and its Web site, so it should be easy to find.
Telling your story to a cereal maker could bring a dozen boxes of cereal delivered to your door. That's got to be a guarantee that you'll eat breakfast.
