Sarah Palin to resign Alaska governor's office this month
Filed under: People
Alaska governor Sarah Palin is resigning, she said in a news conference in her Wasilla home this morning, and will inaugurate Lt. Governor Sean Parnell on Saturday, July 25. Immediate speculation is that she is preparing for a run at the 2012 presidency; the timing of the announcement, on a day that most public employees are off work, is curious. She made the disclosure flanked by most of her staff, including Parnell, and she would not make any comments as to why she was resigning, or answer questions. She did say that she believed she would be more effective outside of the government; and that "I know when to pass the ball for the team... and when to pass the ball for victory."Some political watchers and media pundits on Twitter publicly wondered whether Palin's resignation was connected to the Todd Purdum profile in Vanity Fair that posited Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008 because of Palin's position on the Republican ticket. And certainly, the statement released by her office reflects this conjecture; "Once I decided not to run for re-election [as Alaska governor], I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose." While the imagery expressed by these words reflect political weakness, her fans have taken the news to mean hope for 2012. Whether she could overcome the significant questions about her intelligence and leadership ability, not to mention her many ethical and familial liabilities, is doubtful.

YES, YES, YES!!! I am so releaved that Mrs. Palin will run for my President. Palin is amart, young, ambitious and we need about 600 more just like her in the White House. Do you think she can ever undo what Obama has successfully done to our country and children in such a short time? Obama definately shared the wealth from our working people. We Republicans need some new, smart, gutsy & ambitious people to take care of our money makers who pay the taxes. Get rin of the cheaters and Obama. That a way to go Sarah Palin. Go all the way.

Sara palin will run and she will lose. Why? because she is comming from a far right postion on so many things that freaks the hell out of most Americans. Not to mention as long as repulicans keep compling about Obama, and his health care plan or the spending, but no real solutions another to bitch and moan. While many familes are losing homes some on the verge of being homeles, while young people keep dying in a war that may or may not be won, and while healthcare cost keeps many americans from getting any even when they need it. Republicans will lose over and over again. This is not the time for Republicans to bitch and moan. This is the time for them to say you know what we have better solutions. Then go out and prove it. Repulicans must start to appeal not only to the corporations, but everyday hard working Americans. They must be more then just defense talk or conservitive values. They must comeout of teh bubble there in. Sara Palin is not that person she will never be.

The opposition will do anything to keep Sarah out of office
and away from a powerful position. I would take her over
ANY politician now serving in D.C. "They" are terrified of
her, because she is the genuine article, the real deal, and
even the republicans know that, which scares many of THEM
too! RUN Sarah. I will volunteer for your campaign in GA!!!

You can always tell when an article is written by a whining liberal as they write things against conservatives that shows their hatred of the good, for being good. Like the last sentence -- "Whether she could overcome the significant questions about her intelligence and leadership ability, not to mention her many ethical and familial liabilities, is doubtful." Go ahead liberal, say the same about this absolutely awful, insane, evil man in the Whitehouse. Yeah right.. Your lips are sealed on people who are just like you.

this country is already in big trouble genius...CONservative governMENt...CON MEN - they are demanding that homeowners convert their homes to "Green" that they will be unable to sell their homes unless they are up to a green code. They are talking about taxing or levying fines on people who do not have medical insurance. Did anyone stop to think that people cannot afford the insurance thats why they don't have it? $550 a month for an individual for medical insurance on top of standard cost of living expenses isnt affordable to everyone or THEY'D HAVE INSURANCE. Thousands of dollars to make your home green when people can barely afford their mortgages. Obscene and unjust. Read a newspaper Boomer - find a solution not another complaint.

Dear Governor Palin:
I am a retired teacher of Political Science.
I have a suggestion for you if it is within your political thinking. Since you have resigned as Governor of Alaska, go on the road and attack the President's Carbon Tax and his Medical Care Bill. Then in 2010 run for the Senate in Alaska and in 2012 for the Presidency. You will have gained international experience and in the Senate not have forsaken your Alaskian constituents.

Never in history have we had a less qualified or less informed candidate for national office. I am excited at the prospect of Palin being the republican candidate in the next election as this will ensure the passing, once and for all of that party. While she excites the rightwingnut fringe, or as they call themselves, "The Base," she horrifies the vast majority of Americans and she will not get more than 25% of the vote in a general election. She is a quitter who tossed the trust of all those who voted for her into the dumpster. Hopefully the Greens or the Socialists will become the alternative to the Democrats, who have morphed into the party of big business and special interests, you know, the old republican party.

We were just in your beautiful state of Alaska on a Holland America cruise/tour. We were saddened to hear that you have resigned as Governor. We feel the same way you do about issues facing our country and are very concerned about the direction Obama is taking us. Would you be willing to lead a march on Washington? There are many of us ready to march. None of us can be silent anymore. We support you 100% and are big fans of yours. Good luck to you and your family.

We are saddened by Sarah's resignation, but she deserves bigger and better things than what our State has spun her direction. We're supportive of whatever direction her path takes and wish her the very best. The ALASKA PEOPLE owe her a lot of gratitude. Sarah is a strong-willed person, honest and trustworthy. We wish you the best.

Ethical difficulties? Her accusers are 0-15 in ethical investigations, but she has had to spend half a million dollars. What is ethical about exhausting someone's financial resources over trivia? Dems ethical? By what standard please?

No one less qualified or intelligent has ever run? What about Sir Gaffealot who is now second in line for President? Not to mention that it is amazing one can attend Harvard and still think we have at least 57 states. The dems suffer from the delusion that they have a stable of superior candidates, but a fair look at both parties would indicate that only a seminar blogger would hold to that idea.

How many more Palin haters are going to post paragraphs that read as if they were written by a fourth grader, claiming that Palin or anyone else is stupid? The haters are no more than ACORN workers on a break, paid to send out a barrage of the same tired invective and unproven allegations. One can only hope that these apologists for hatred and dependency will wear the honest people of this country out, so they can see the bankruptcy of their ideas. None of which are self sustaining.

People are afraid of those that are strong and hold their ground. People that do not waver in order to "get a vote" and who are continually focused on a future for the good of all people regardless of how it makes them look at the moment.
Life is not a straight line - very few people see this but Sarah does - and she knows how to deal with it.
Our country will see that her kind of leadership is what America needs as the crumbling begins to unfold.

Sarah just now figured out that she can't be talking in riddles and circles. It all just got to be too much for her to handle and she's throwing in the towel.
She is a narcisstic person and wants all the attention and when she doesn't get complete adoration from everyone, she blames them.
Voters are too smart to believe all that rambling and nonsense. She hasn't got what it takes to be in offfice. I say good riddance. She cant get over herself, that's the problem.
