A few days ago, I wrote about a contest to help rebuild your credit. I've just heard about another contest, which not surprisingly also has to do with our sinking, sagging economy.
I have a feeling that business owners are going to love this idea -- and that's who the contest is aimed at, entrepreneurs -- although I'm sure nonprofits, churches, PTA moms and any individual who does a lot of printing will be interested, too.
PrintingForLess.com, a gigantic printing shop based in Livingston, Montana, is offering a contest this month, November and December, where any American resident 18 years old and older can win $1,000 of free printing. It's called the PrintingForLess.com Economic Stimulus Contest. Here's what you do: Send in your most innovative marketing strategies to flip this economic downturn into an opportunity.
"What recession-busting marketing tactics will you use to ensure your business comes out on top? Whether your ideas are practical, crazy, over-the-top, or just plain weird -- we want to hear them. The more creative, the better!"
(Do I see a trend here? We all have to work harder if we want to win something? The last contest I mentioned made people write a 500-word essay, and Google's Let's All Save the Planet contest has people having to think hard about good ideas to help others. Gee, what happened to putting my name in a hat with a bunch of other names, or simply guessing how many jelly beans are in a jar? Why do I have to think so hard? Are all future contests from now on going to require us using our brains? )

Each winner will be chosen five days after the month ends, so there are three opportunities ahead to win $1,000 in free printing, which they say includes brochures, newsletters, posters, postcards, business cards, calendars, presentation folders and greeting cards.
